Prof. Paula Span is Distinguished Teacher of the YearMay 18, 2009 Prof. Paula Span was named Teacher of the Year by the Class of 2009 during the annual Hudson River boat cruise, a graduation tradition. The Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award recognizes outstanding work in the classroom, continued service to the profession and talents as a teacher, mentor and journalist. The award is adminstered by The Society of Professional Journalists, the J-School's student government. In addition to teaching the "Techniques of Feature Writing" elective and advising students on their master's projects, Span is a contributing writer for The Washington Post Magazine and a frequent contributor to The New York Times. Her book, "When the Time Comes: Families with Aging Parents Share Their Struggles and Solutions," will be published June 10 by Grand Central Publishing.
