| Eve currently serves as vice president and general counsel of
The Hearst Corporation (since 2002). From 2000 to 2001, she worked as vice president and chief legal
counsel, at CNN, responsible for all legal issues related to news
and other programs broadcast on CNN networks and web sites.
In 2000, she led the effort that convinced U.S. Supreme Court for the first time in
its history to make audio access immediately available in Bush
v. Gore. At CNN, she served as a member of the Ethics Committee. Before joining CNN, she worked as vice president and deputy general counsel for the New York Daily News, responsible for all news related legal matters and led the
newspaper's litigation to gain access to courts, documents and
government agencies.
Eve has a B.A. from Hampshire College and a J.D. from Columbia University School
of Law. Following law school, she clerked for Hon. Leonard B. Sand of the U.S. District Court (SDNY). The recipient of First Amendment
awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, The
National Press Club and The New York Press Club , she has published numerous articles in media law journals and newspapers, and was named a Fulbright Research Scholar at Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand.
