Rick Karr is correspondent for the weekly PBS public affairs show Bill Moyers Journal. In 2006, he reported and co-wrote the Emmy- nominated PBS documentary Net @ Risk, which examined the dismal state of online infrastructure in the U.S. and threats by telecom conglomerates to take control of the internet. He has also reported for the PBS shows Journal Editorial Report and NOW. Karr spent 12 years at National Public Radio, where he worked as an engineer, producer, general-assignment reporter, program host, and finally the network's senior cultural correspondent in New York City. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, the artist Birgit Rathsmann.
