Julie Hartenstein has served as Deputy Director of Career Services since September 2005 and works primarily with broadcast and new media students. Working closely with faculty and industry, Career Services works to educate students about the media landscape and prepares them to enter the job market as well as generating internship and employment opportunities. For five years prior to joining Career Services, Julie was a member of the broadcast faculty at the journalism school.

Julie is a veteran of ABC News. First hired in 1980 on the staff of ABC News Nightline, she spent ten years as an editorial and field producer on the broadcast. Following Nightline, she was a producer of American Agenda segments on ABC News World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and also worked as an assignment editor, produced for Good Morning America and 20/20, helped develop correspondent talent and has served as a freelance program consultant on various projects.

In 1985 she was awarded the Benton Fellowship in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Chicago and studied clinical medical ethics. Julie has a B.A. degree in art history from Tufts University.
