It is exciting to work at Columbia. All my colleagues are leading people in their fields. There is a real esprit de corps at the Journalism School. Students are driven and work hard. The M.A. program breeds journalists who have the capacity to analyze stories, put them in context, and fit them into a larger historical trajectory. It teaches students to respond not only to whatever the event of the moment is but also to understand such events more fully.
