Jane M. Folpe is associate director of Continuing Education at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In this capacity, she administers the Citi International Journalists Seminar, among others, and works on curriculum and program development for the school’s continuing education division.

In addition, Ms. Folpe has been an instructor in Computer-Assisted Financial Reporting at the Universitat de Barcelona/Columbia University Master in Journalism Program in Spain and has lectured on this subject at workshops for journalists from developing countries at the Graduate School of Journalism and the Initiative for Policy Dialogue. Ms. Folpe is a co-author of “Business and Economic Reporting: Covering Companies, Financial Markets and the Broader Economy,” published by the International Center for Journalists in 2005. She also authored chapters on accounting and Internet reporting in “Covering Globalization: A Handbook for Reporters,” which was published by Columbia University Press in 2004.

Prior to coming to Columbia, Ms. Folpe was a reporter at Fortune and deputy editor of Fortune’s Spanish-language supplement, Fortune Americas. She began her career in journalism at the Washington bureau of the Spanish daily, El Pais, where she also served as an editor on the foreign desk in Madrid. Ms. Folpe, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, has an M.S. with Honors in Journalism from Columbia University and an M.A. in Latin American Studies from New York University. She was the recipient of a Fulbright grant to research press coverage of the monarchy in Spain.
