Jason Kissell - 2009 Fellow

JASON KISSELL, Executive Director of Advertising Strategy,

As executive director of advertising strategy, Mr. Kissell manages the strategic planning function and the niche product division of The Boston Globe which features the magazines Design New England, FashionBoston, OT (Sports) and Lola in addition to the digital venture BoMoms, a website targeting new mothers in the Boston area. He also manages customer relationship management, event marketing and the training function for the advertising department.

Prior to this role, Mr. Kissell was responsible for all print and online revenue for Boston Globe Media’s Real Estate, Recruitment and Miscellaneous Classified categories. Before that, Mr. Kissell served as managing director of BostonWorks, the multi-media recruitment division of Boston Globe Media, where he managed sales, business development, operations and the overall brand marketing strategy for the help wanted section of The Boston Globe and Boston.com. Prior to that, Mr. Kissell served as director of business development & strategy, where he created and implemented programs, products and strategic alliances that delivered new revenue streams.

Mr. Kissell joined The Boston Globe in 2002 as an outside sales representative where he provided recruitment solutions to major Boston employers in the Retail, Education, Biotech and Government industries. Previously, Mr. Kissell was director of marketing for RetailExchange.com, a B2B internet marketplace. Mr. Kissell developed and implemented the corporate marketing strategy, including the relaunch of the company from a "dot.com" to a "bricks and clicks" firm. Mr. Kissell also worked at Titleist and Footjoy Worldwide, where he was brand manager for the Pinnacle golf ball product line. Mr. Kissell is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
