Support the Journalism School

Second Century Campaign

Dear friends,

I write with good news about the Journalism School during these uncertain times. We have surpassed our fundraising campaign goal of raising $100 million, three years ahead of schedule. I want to thank all of you for the many ways in which you support the school. Never before have we seen this kind of alumni and donor support, at all levels.

The funds we have raised in the Second Century Campaign have already made a dramatic impact on the school. We just opened a sparkling new student center. All students now receive cutting-edge training in digital media, and most significantly, our average scholarship grant per student has doubled.

This is a wonderful achievement, and it has inspired us to aim even higher. Our goal is to continue seeking support for key School initiatives through 2012, the year of the school's centennial. We will aim to increase the average scholarship to cover half of tuition costs and to develop two new academic centers focused on digital media journalism and the coverage of race and ethnicity.

I believe this time of great change in journalism is an extraordinary opportunity for leadership by the school and by our graduates.

With thanks,

Nicholas Lemann
