Computer Login Instructions

Prior to gaining access to any of the Journalism School's computer resources, you must first provide a username and password for access to the network. Your account has been pre-configured with a temporary password, which you will be required to change upon first logging in. The instructions below outline the steps required to login to computers running Microsoft Windows XP even in virtualized environments –e.g. Parallels.

Please note: Your username and password are unique to you. Do not share this information, as you are responsible for all actions occurring under your login ID.

Windows

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to access the login screen

Type your Username into field labeled "User name"

Enter your temporary password into the "Password" field (all passwords are case sensitive) and press "OK".

Your temporary password is set to expire upon successful login onto the network. Click on the "OK" button to continue.

You must now create a new password for you account. Your password must be at least 8 characters in length and MUST contain at least one capital letter and one number. Do not forget your password.

Enter your Password twice and press "OK".

You have now successfully changed your password; press "OK" to continue.
