Post Job Openings

JobNews
The Office of Career Services publishes JobNews, a Web site with current journalism job openings at news media companies nationwide and abroad. JobNews is updated daily and is a no-fee courtesy to media employers and students/graduates of The Journalism School.

Thousands of students and alumni are regularly notified of the newest postings, special job announcements about your company and other employment tips in JobNews via our regularly updated jobs database, JobNews.

Internship/part-time jobs page
If you are a news media company seeking interns for reporting, writing or other journalism positions, we post listings on a special web page for part-time jobs/academic year internships for our current students. JobNews does NOT accept listings for marketing or public relations internships, nor from non-news media companies seeking candidates for non-journalism positions. Check with the university’s Center for Career Education or Barnard College's free job listing service as a possible listing site.

Note: Our students can be certified through the Office of Career Education for academic credit eligibility, but employers must certify that the duties are primarily journalistic in nature, and that the weekly time commitment is limited. Read our policy on academic-year internships here.

TO POST A JOB OR AN INTERNSHIP:

For part-time or full-time jobs or internships, write to postjobs(at)jrn.columbia.edu using the required format below. Limit your job description to 250 words.

For ALL internship listings, you must indicate if the position is paid/unpaid, the time commitment you seek and detail the news/journalism duties expected of the intern. Career Services will not post openings for internships that are strictly administrative and are not primarily newsgathering in nature. We also strongly encourage employers to provide students with at least a stipend.

If you have a longer description, you may include the URL link to the fuller posting on your own company site. We do not accept attachments. THE JOURNALISM SCHOOL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE PUBLICATION OF ANY JOB NOTICES AND TO EDIT THE POSTINGS FOR SPACE. If accepted, postings are usually listed within a day of receipt and remain on JobNews for four weeks. Thank you for sharing your job opportunity!
