| Description | Newsweek magazine has created a one-year fellowship program as part of our overall effort to recruit and train talented journalists of diverse backgrounds. We have two fellowship positions available annually, beginning at staggered dates.
Applicants should be college graduates and/or have limited professional journalism experience. Applicants must also be prepared to spend a year working at the magazine. A background in journalism is desirable but not required. Finalists will be interviewed in person in New York. Each fellow is assigned to a particular editorial department and is paired with a mentor/coach who will work closely with the fellow to help develop his or her professional journalism skills. Departments assigned include: Newsweek.com, National Affairs, Business & Technology, Society & Science, Health & Medicine, Periscope, Special Projects, Tip Sheet, Photography and the magazine's art and graphics departments. A competitive salary is offered and fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in one of the magazine's health benefits programs. Candidates who successfully complete the program are not guaranteed a full-time position but will be seriously considered for any available open positions.
