| Description | The Asian American Journalists Association sponsors summer interns in Chicago news organizations every summer. Each scholarship is $2,500 for a 10-12 week internship. Applicants must be 2009 members of AAJA. Membership is open to anyone.
DAVID IBATA PRINT SCHOLARSHIP You'll get hands-on experience this summer working in the newsroom of the Chicago Tribune. Cover news events, generate your own ideas and see your stories in print at the city's largest daily paper. TO APPLY: Submit the following: - one-page resume and cover letter - 3-5 clips (no classroom work) that are examples of breaking news and enterprise stories - college transcript - 350-word essay on why you want to be a journalist (and what being an Asian American Journalist means to you) - application form (see Melissa McLaney in Career Services for this form). Produce Web pages, edit stories and video and write headlines. Previous Web experience is a plus. You'll test your skills in the field working at a station in a major metro market.
