In addition to the honors and awards garnered by our students at commencement, they were treated to inspiring and enthusiastic words from guest speakers. In addition to commencement honorees, Ernest Scheyder,'07, has been selected to receive the 2007 SPJ Deadline Club Scholarship and the 2007 Abbott Memorial Scholarship. He will receive both awards at the annual SPJ dinner on June 21.

During the Journalism Day celebration on May 15, students and faculty gathered to hear Dana Priest, national security correspondent of the Washington Post, talk about her work and offer advice to the new crop of journalists.

When her talk was completed, the Mike Berger Award was presented to this year's winner, Abigail Tucker, of the Baltimore Sun.

This was followed by the presentation of student awards.

At the commencement ceremony on May 16, Ben Bradlee, vice-president at large of The Washington Post, received the school's highest honor, the Columbia Journalism Award. His inspiring address was received by students and parents.
