Professor Whitehouse earned her B.S.J from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Her positions have included writer and editor, Newsday; columnist and feature writer, Asbury Park Press; and reporter, The Miami Herald; Sun-Sentinel; and Sarasota Herald-Tribune. She served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer. She was part of the Newsday team that won a Pulitzer for Spot News in 1997. Whitehouse is currently expanding her Newsday series "The Match" into a book to be published by Beacon Press in 2009; it's the story of a couple who created the perfect sibling to cure their daughter’s disease.
