Post Job Openings

JobNews Career Management Center
The Career Services Office maintains a site with current journalism job openings at news media companies nationwide and abroad. JobNews is updated daily and is a no-fee courtesy to media employers and students/graduates of The Journalism School.

TO POST A JOB OR AN INTERNSHIP:

Our automated JobNews Career Management Center gives you control over postings, sends you automatic emails when postings expire, and allows candidates to store materials like resumes, letters and applications online and more.

To create an account, go to https://journalism-columbia-csm.symplicity.com/employers. Contact us with any questions at careers@jrn.columbia.edu.

For ALL internship listings, you must indicate if the position is paid/unpaid, the time commitment you seek and detail the news/journalism duties expected of the intern. Career Services will not post openings for internships that are strictly or primarily administrative and are not newsgathering in nature. We also strongly encourage employers to provide students with at least a stipend. Unpaid internships must comply with the regulations of the U.S. Department of labor (www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.htm). If accepted, postings are usually listed within a day of receipt. Thank you for sharing your job opportunities with us.

The Journalism School reserves the right to refuse publication of any job notices. We do NOT accept listings for marketing or public relations internships, nor from non-news media companies seeking candidates for non-journalism positions. Check with the university’s Center for Career Education or Barnard College's free job listing service for solicitation of undergraduate interns with broader interests.

Note: Our students can be certified through the Office of Career Services for academic credit eligibility, but employers must certify that the duties are journalistic in nature, and that the weekly time commitment is limited. Read our policy on academic-year internships here.
