Stabile reporting reveals campaign contributor is biggest beneficiary

Nathaniel Herz began reporting on New York City mayoral candidate, former comptroller Bill Thompson, in the fall, as part of his master’s project in the Stabile program. His research focused on Thompson’s stint as chairman of the Battery Park City Authority, a public-benefit corporation overseeing that real-estate development in Lower Manhattan. Thompson relinquished that post last week.

Denver Nicks ’10 recently published “Private: Bradley Manning, WikiLeaks, and the Biggest Exposure of Official Secrets in American History,” the first full-length investigation into Manning’s life and the circumstances and influences that drove him. Manning, a 22-year-old soldier from Oklahoma, perpetrated the biggest breach of military security in American history, leaking classified information, including combat videos and documents from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, to WikiLeaks.
