Career Expo

We have already begun planning for the 2017 Career Expo on April 1, 2017. This event is open only to the graduating students at Columbia Journalism School. Watch this space for more inforrmation in the fall of 2016.

The 2016 Career Expo was held on April 2, 2016 at Roone Arledge Auditorium, Columbia's Morningside campus.

About 325 editors, producers, alumni recruiters and hiring managers attended to make it the biggest journalism job fair in the school's history. We welcomed editors from Turkey, China, India, the U.K, and throughout the United States who came to Columbia to meet the next generation of journalistic talent for newsroom postions now or in the future.

The 2016 Expo showcased the tremendous range of media operating today, from legacy media to start-ups. Legacy media included The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Al Jazeera, ABC News and the BBC. Newer ventures like Bustle and Elite Daily, podcast programs Gimlet and Panoply, and topic-focused investigative sites like The Marshall Project, The Trace, Chalkbeat and The Intercept also joined in. Spanish-language media -- EFE News service, ImpreMedia, Telemundo and Univision - took part to find bilingual journalists for their newsrooms.

Companies were advertising a range of job opportunities including full-time jobs, internships, stringer positions and freelance assignments. Employers represented a range of subject areas including health and science, business and economics, investigative journalism, sports, weather, media, technology, politics and government, general assignment, metro and community news, arts, culture and entertainment, food, travel and fashion, Jewish issues, international news and more.
