Mary D'Ambrosio

Mary D’Ambrosio specializes in writing about the global economy. She was a special projects editor at Global Finance magazine, a reporter for the Associated Press in Venezuela and a correspondent and book reviewer for the San Francisco Chronicle. Her work has also appeared in Islands, Institutional Investor, Working Woman, Working Mother, Newsday and the Miami Herald.
D’Ambrosio has worked extensively in Latin America, covering the Mexican peso crisis, the North American Free Trade Agreement and other developing country controversies and triumphs. She’s also reported from Turkey, Russia and the UK. She has a B.S. in journalism from Syracuse University, and an MSc in economic history from the London School of Economics.
In 2009, she founded Big World Magazine, to encourage multimedia storytelling about places.
She directs a summer foreign reporting program in Istanbul, and serves on the editorial board of Abroad View, a national magazine to promote international education.
